Sochi is a Sustainability failure

An article in the Times:  The Not So Sustainable Sochi Winter Olympics revels that Sochis Olympics failed their promise of being waste free and to follow green building standards. Previous Olympic games were becoming more and more green. Even Chinarealized zero pollution Olympics offsetting more than a million tons of Co2 by planting trees, closing mines to name only a few actions. The Russians missed the goal completely. For example they destroyed parts of a pristine wildlife protected area that is part of UNESCO world heritage, illegal dumping was observed and local population suffered limited access to drinking water and general loss of quality of life.
